به گزارش نوید شاهد استان مرکزی ، شهید محمود جهان پناه در نهم تیر سال ۱۳۴۲ در شهرستان بهبهان دیده به جهان گشود همان زمان که رهبرش فرمود سربازان من هم اکنون در گهواره ها شیر می‌خورند.
در دوران انقلاب با دلی محکم و ایمانی سرشار در تظاهرات‌ها و راهپیمایی ها شرکت فعال است و حتی چندین بار مورد ضرب و شتم چکمه پوشان طاغوت قرار گرفت. با پیروزی انقلاب محمود به پاسداری از آن برخاست و همزمان به ادامه تحصیل خود پرداخت پس از اتمام دوران دبیرستان و اخذ دیپلم به عضویت سپاه پاسداران در آمد. در همان سال محمود مورد توطئه ترور قرار گرفت و علیرغم پرتاب بمبی به داخل منزل به خواست خدا جان سالم به در بردند.
محمود در عملیات فتح المبین و بیت المقدس والفجر مقدماتی و والفجر ۲ و ۳ شرکت کرد. سرانجام محمود در بیست و دوم اردیبهشت سال ۱۳۶۵ در فکه در روز اول ماه مبارک رمضان مورد اصابت گلوله مستقیم تانک قرار گرفت و سرش را چون مولایش حسین در راه معشوق هدیه نماید و به ملاقات یار خویش رفت.
